Original Runaways Talk About Seeing Kristen Stewart And Dakota Fanning
The Sundance Film Festival is all about reunions, as casts and crews who worked on films months or even years before meet up in the Rocky Mountains to promote their projects and hit some afterparties. Sunday night at the Eccles Theatre was the setting for one of the festival's more curious reunions, when the members of the pioneering all-teen-girl '70s rock band the Runaways walked the red carpet with the stars portraying them in a big screen biopic "The Runaways," which tells the story of the band's rise and fall.

So there was Runaways guitarist/solo star Joan Jett next to her onscreen counterpart, Kristen Stewart, and singer Cherie Currie walking alongside her young cinematic doppelganger, Dakota Fanning (both of whom star in the "Twilight" saga). Asked to give their reactions the first time they saw the teen actors in costume as the Runaways, Jett and Currie's eyes lit up.
"It was amazing," Jett, who played guitar in the band, told MTV News. "It was surreal. The first time I met her, her hair was still long. Then after she finished 'New Moon,' she got it cut and I saw her out in L.A. for some rehearsals and it was really incredible. We were both laughing a lot because it's surreal."
So surreal, in fact, that Currie admitted she felt as if the entire experience were simply unreal. "It was too much for me to handle, to be honest with you," she said of seeing Fanning in character. "For the first time, I got to see what it was like to be in an audience and look at the Runaways. It was that right-on. This all is so surreal! I went to sleep, woke up in this amazing dream, and I can't wake up. I don't want to wake up. And guess what? I don't have to!"
Indeed, she didn't. The real and fictionalized Runaways soon hustled into the theater for the film's premiere, then gathered hours later at the Bing Bar on Main Street for the official after-party. It was the most coveted bash in town on Sunday night, as the line outside made clear, largely because of the presence of "Twilight" franchise stars Stewart and Fanning.
As Currie said while still on the carpet, though, the teens are handling all the attention wonderfully. "What great girls," she said. "I think they're incredibly down to earth. I'm really proud to know 'em."

For Kristen Stewart, This Is Her Dawn
An appearance in a movie here amounts to a declaration of purpose for an actress with Stewart's Q rating, to say nothing of two edgy movie roles. And judging by her "Rileys" red carpet commentary, Stewart was intent on publicly declaring her allegiance to scrappy indie upstarts like the Jake Scott-directed "Welcome to the Rileys" -- in which she appears opposite James Gandolfini and Melissa Leo, who play a married couple struggling to come to grips with the death of their teenage daughter -- while implicitly damning her work in the world-conquering "Twilight" films that have grossed more than $1 billion worldwide.
"I had the most truthful, like, beginning-to-end experience," said Stewart said at the first screening of "Rileys," which is still looking for a distribution deal. "This was the best experience I've had on a movie in years. I really love this movie."
On Saturday afternoon, the 19-year-old actress slipped quietly into Park City's Racquet Club Theatre unnoticed by paparazzi or salivating fans -- at least two of whom had paid $2,000 for tickets on EBay -- into its premiere. So low-key was the "New Moon" phenom (or "incognito" as a movie publicist put it), she passed from her SUV to the movie's red carpet line without raising the suspicion of a mob desperate for any vestige of her. Until, that is, the precise moment Stewart came to face reporters and photographers. (The performer declined to do a one-on-one interview for this story.)
Flashbulbs popped, a few cameramen did the requisite jostling and the questions came at Stewart furious and fast. Does she have a Sundance "ritual" after having premiered films here four times in the past? Does she think Twi-hards will be surprised to see her portray a stripper-hooker?
"No," Stewart curtly replied, rolling her eyes with contempt.
To get ready for the flesh- and soul-bearing part, the diminutive Stewart -- dressed in Sundance's regalia of military parka, distressed denim and sneakers -- explained that she hadn't done any "prep" per se, although she studied some pole dancing for the sake of greater realism and spoke to a few strippers.
"I'm not playing a stripper," Stewart said with snarling emphasis before the film's first screening Saturday. "My character -- basically nothing belongs to her. She's an open sore."
Stewart knitted her brow. "It's really not a stripper movie at all. It sort of just opens your eyes about people that don't have options." She paused. "I know I'm speaking really vaguely about it."

The Ithaca Journal Discuss Rob And “Water for Elephants”
“Twilight” fans rejoice: Fangy Hollywood heartthrob Robert Pattinson may be descending on Ithaca this summer to film a big-screen book adaptation at Cornell University.
Rumors are rampant that a production team for Fox 2000’s Depression-era drama “Water for Elephants” will be on campus in June to film scenes for the movie, which centers on a Cornell veterinary student who drops out and joins the circus after his parents are killed.
Pattinson, the 24-year-old British actor who shot to fame portraying brooding vampire Edward Cullen in the blockbuster “Twilight” series, is said to have signed on to play the role of central character Jacob Jankowski.
Cornell University press officer Blaine Friedlander said he was unable to confirm whether the school would be used as a film location.
A full production crew of 50 to 100 people could spend as much as $50,000 a day locally. Even a smaller "second unit" crew of 10 to 20 people would need food and accommodation, he said.
Bruce Stoff, marketing communications manager for the Ithaca/Tompkins Convention and Visitors Bureau, said it would be a big economic boon for the area if it was.

Ashley Greene Covers Savvy Magazine
The February 2010 issue of Savvy Magazine features a new interview and cover with Twilight and New Moon star Ashley Greene.
In a ten-page fashion spread and interview, the actress discusses her independent film, Skateland, as it debuts at the Sundance Film Festival. She also shares a behind the scenes glimpse at filming The Twilight Saga movies and discusses her most recent endeavor, landing the lead in the new Warner Bros. thriller The Apparition. “To actually be the lead of a studio film and to have input on it is just really cool.” said Greene. The movie begins shooting early this year in Berlin.

Kristen Stewart Plays A Stripper In Upcoming Movie
16-year-old runaway who gets into exotic dancing and occasional prostitution to earn money. The film premiered at the Sundance Film Festival in Park City, Utah, on Saturday, and Kristen admits it is a big departure for her.
The 19-year-old actress is seen dancing in platform heels, fishnets, a micro-mini skirt and a bra in one scene, and the actress was nervous about shooting the sequence with co-star James Gandolfini. She added: “The first time I put on all the fishnets I was nervous. I really tried to own it though.”
Kristen trained with a professional stripper for two weeks to prepare for the movie and initially wanted to learn the sexy moves covered up. Speaking to Us Weekly magazine, she said: “I wanted to do it in my clothes. But my trainer was like, 'No, you don't stick to the pole when you do that.’ ”
