Taylor Lautner's latest leading lady is a new face with a name that may be familiar to fans of 1980s pop-rock music. Lily Collins -- the daughter of hit-maker Phil Collins -- will star with Lautner in the upcoming thriller "Abduction."
Collins may not be very well-known to the legions of "Twilight" fans more accustomed to seeing Lautner alongside Kristen Stewart, but she may ring a bell for fans of Sandra Bullock's last film: 21-year-old Lily made her silver screen debut last year as the daughter of Bullock's character in "The Blind Side." Prior to that, Lily's work found her in two episodes of "90210" and as a host for Nickelodeon's "Kids Pick the President" in 2008.
In "Abduction," Collins will play the girlfriend who aids Lautner's search for his real parents after discovering his baby picture on a missing persons website.
Lautner and Collins will begin work on the dramatic thriller once reshoots for "The Twilight Saga: Eclipse" wrap. (Even though the film hits theaters June 30, Twi-hards need not fret -- last-minute reshoots are a normal part of the filmmaking process, and a rep from Summit assures fans none of the film's vital scenes need any work.)
Before she turned to acting, the rock-star daughter penned fashion columns for Seventeen and Teen Vogue. In 2008 she blogged about coming home to find the cast of "Twilight" doing a photo shoot for InStyle magazine in her backyard. Fate may have been teasing the two future costars: Lautner wasn't present at that shoot, but Collins did meet Robert Pattinson and Stewart while they posed for pics outside her house.
As for where Collins got her flair for the creative, it might be more a matter of nature than nurture. The "In the Air Tonight" singer split from Lily's mother and went on to start a new family in Switzerland before Lily's sixth birthday. Divorce aside, the young actress and her father get along very well -- in fact, she says he wrote the song "You'll Be in My Heart" from Disney's "Tarzan" for her.
In addition to being acquainted with Lautner's "Twilight" castmates, Collins shares another vampire-ish quality with her new costar: They've both played characters with a strong distaste for the bloodsuckers. No, Collins isn't playing a werewolf anytime soon, but she is kidnapped by a gang of Satanic vampires in the upcoming film "Priest," which features Paul Bettany as the Christian warrior-priest uncle intent on saving her.
