Fans Push For 'New Moon' Director Chris Weitz To Direct 'The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn'

The Twilight Saga: New Moon director Chris Weitz has certainly made a name for himself in the Twilight fan community. At least, that is the impression one might get from the fantastic buzz that surrounds the snippets of information that have been released about the project (particularly, the two trailer features, the two snippets at Comic Con, and many lovely still frame photographs - some of the best featured in the slideshow below).

Even the actors in New Moon have given unscripted praise for the professionalism and vision that Chris Weitz has offered the set of the films.

Not to mention, he's been a beacon of understanding for Twilight fan expectations - with his constant promises of a faithful translation of Stephenie Meyer's book series, and his subsequent delivery thereof.

That said, there is at least one group of Twilight fans that doesn't want Weitz's involvement with the film franchise to end any time soon. A small facebook group entitled "Chris Weitz Directing Breaking Dawn!" promotes his involvement with The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn (that is, if and when it comes into official reach).

A petition of sorts, the group is based out of Italy (where portions of New Moon were filmed).

This group is but one of many and the buzz surrounding the idea of Weitz being behind the lens of Breaking Dawn has been abounding for a while. Even Paul Weitz, his brother and colleague, had something to say about the matter.

Catherine Hardwicke, director of Twilight, was also one that some fans thought might should return to direct Breaking Dawn (to effectively bookend the series), but her recent comments at a convention confirm that she isn't planning to direct the project.

So, while Chris Weitz has a pretty hefty film schedule ahead of him, is he the one you want on board for Breaking Dawn? Comment below and let us know!
